Busenaz Surmeneli has won the gold medal in the women’s 70kg category at the 2026 European Boxing Championships in Sofia.
Surmeneli defeated Britain’s Chantelle Reid at the Asics Arena on the final day of the competition to become European champion.
The Turkish boxer, an Olympic champion and three-time world champion, secured her second consecutive European gold medal.
Born in Bursa on May 26, 1998, Surmeneli won Olympic gold in the women’s 69kg category at the Tokyo 2020 Games.
She also won world championship gold in 2019 and 2022, according to the supplied copy, and claimed her third world title in 2025.
The Turkish boxer has also won several other major honours during her career.
