Poland has expressed concern over Israeli forces' entry into and seizure of a UN agency for Palestinian refugees' facility in occupied East Jerusalem, calling the move a violation of international law.
The Polish Foreign Ministry said on Friday that the Israeli action was hostile towards the United Nations and its specialised agency, the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has noted with concern another decision by the Israeli authorities that violates the principles of international law and is hostile toward the United Nations Organization and its specialized agency, UNRWA," it said on X.
The ministry said it shared the UN's position that the entry of Israeli security forces into the Qalandiya Training Center constituted a breach of the principle of the inviolability of UN premises.
It also joined Guterres' appeal for Israeli authorities to immediately stop interfering with UNRWA premises, evacuate the facility and return properties seized from the UN in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
Israeli forces evacuated staff from the UNRWA facility on Tuesday, seized the compound and raised the Israeli flag in its courtyard.
Israeli forces also deployed around Qalandiya refugee camp and Kafr Aqab, carrying out raids, searches and field interrogations of Palestinians.
UNRWA condemns incursion
UNRWA said it "unequivocally condemns" the unauthorised incursion into the centre.
The agency said the entry of armed security forces into a UN facility without UN authorisation or consent was unacceptable.
It added that the centre is protected under the privileges and immunities afforded to the UN under international law, and that its inviolability must be fully respected.
