Malaysia and Indonesia have reaffirmed their support for Palestine and the Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied East Jerusalem during a ministerial meeting in Jordan.
The two countries reiterated their positions at the Ministerial Meeting in Support of Jerusalem and Its Holy Sites, held earlier this week in the Jordanian capital, Amman.
Malaysia reaffirmed that East Jerusalem is an integral part of the Occupied Palestinian Territory, rejecting any attempt to alter its legal, historical, demographic or religious status.
In a statement, Malaysia's Foreign Ministry also condemned violations at Al-Aqsa Mosque and the expansion of illegal Israeli settlements, while reiterating support for an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Call for international action
Indonesia urged the international community to adopt a united stance against Israel's actions in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque.
"Indonesia urged the international community to abandon silence over Israel's violations and not allow itself to become divided in responding to them," Deputy Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Nasir said, according to the state-run Antara news agency.
"Division is the crack that Israel has always exploited," he added.
Jakarta also called for broader international recognition of Palestine, greater protection for Al-Aqsa Mosque, support for Gaza's reconstruction, Palestinian reconciliation and continued backing for the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
Both Malaysia and Indonesia reaffirmed their support for Jordan's Hashemite Custodianship over the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
