Türkiye’s National Security Council has welcomed the agreement reached between Iran and the United States, underscoring the need to protect the diplomatic process and build on momentum toward regional stability.
The council met in Ankara on Thursday under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and expressed satisfaction with the agreement, stressing that all parties should work to prevent any disruption to the process.
In a statement issued after the meeting, the council said Türkiye would continue to actively support initiatives aimed at securing lasting peace and stability across the region.

Council warns regional tensions threaten peace efforts
Alongside its endorsement of the Iran-US agreement, the council reviewed developments in Gaza, the occupied West Bank, East Jerusalem and Lebanon, arguing that ongoing regional tensions continue to undermine prospects for peace.
The statement said Israel’s actions, including ceasefire violations in Gaza, attacks on the status of East Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque, and actions affecting Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, were damaging efforts to achieve regional stability.
The council called on the international community to take what it described as a principled stance against violations of humanitarian values and international law.
The meeting also addressed developments in Cyprus, with the council reiterating that Türkiye, as a guarantor power, would take all necessary measures under international law to protect the security and welfare of Turkish Cypriots.
It added that Ankara would not allow any steps that undermine the rights and interests of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus or threaten stability in the Eastern Mediterranean.
The council further reviewed the latest developments in the Russia-Ukraine war and urged efforts toward a just and lasting peace, warning against further escalation of the conflict in the Black Sea region and beyond.
