Ten-man England has defeated Mexico 3-2 to reach the World Cup quarter-finals after a gripping battle at the Estadio Azteca.

Jude Bellingham scored twice, and Harry Kane netted from the penalty spot as England held on grimly to secure a famous victory that sets up a quarter-final against Norway.

The Three Lions opened the scoring in the 36th minute when Jude Bellingham found the back of the net off an assist from Bukayo Saka.

Just two minutes later, Bellingham struck again in the 38th minute, this time set up by Harry Kane, to give England a commanding two-goal cushion.

However, Mexico responded quickly before the break, cutting the deficit when Julian Quinones scored in the 42nd minute, following an early yellow card for England's Declan Rice in the opening minute of the game.

The momentum shifted dramatically in the second half when England defender Jarell Quansah was shown a straight red card in the 54th minute, reducing the team to ten men.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, England extended their lead in the 60th minute when Harry Kane calmly converted a crucial penalty kick.

Mexico refused to back down and fought back into the match via a penalty kick of their own, converted by Raul Jimenez in the 69th minute.
