Israel has launched a multimillion-dollar campaign, spearheaded by Brad Parscale, to reshape how AI platforms portray the nation.

He served as campaign manager during US President Trump’s 2020 re-election bid.

Israel hired Republican digital strategist in september to oversee a pro-Israel social media and digital outreach initiative, according to Axios.

Parscale's team embarked on a project aimed at getting AI systems to portray Israel in a more "favourable light."

According to the report, Parscale believed platforms like ChatGPT and Gemini were predominantly drawing on anti-Israel information that fuelled negative sentiment.

To counter this, Market Brew, an AI modelling company that Parscale's firm invests in, began injecting Israel-friendly content into the "online bloodstream."

AI-focused campaign

The team created nine websites, including paxpoint.org and factsignal.org, whose content is designed to match how AI platforms "think."

"What you can do is make sure that your information is structured, sourced, and aligned in a way that those systems are more likely to retrieve it," said Market Brew founder Scott Stouffer.

Parscale's team says it has seen success, with popular AI systems incorporating information from the sites, though they declined to provide data publicly.

Despite the AI push, a recent Pew Research survey found that 60 per cent of Americans expressed an unfavourable view of Israel, up from 53 per cent a year earlier.

Israel has paid Parscale's firm $9 million and recently re-upped the contract.

Beyond AI, the campaign included text messaging outreach and digital advertising to boost Israel's image.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that waging an aggressive social media campaign is a priority for the country.
