More than 700,000 Palestinians were driven from their homes after the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. Palestinians call this mass eviction "the Nakba" which means "catastrophe" in Arabic.
Israelis mark the following day on the Gregorian Calendar with Israeli Independence Day.
