This has allowed Israel's illegal occupation of Palestinian territories to continue, leading to escalating violence. Recent events in Gaza, deemed plausible genocide by the International Court of Justice, have prompted some of Israel's EU allies to recognise a Palestinian state, but does this recognition bring Palestinians any closer to achieving actual statehood?
