Countries around the world have called for restraint and a return to negotiations after a new round of US and Iranian attacks heightened tensions in the Middle East and cast doubt on the future of a shaky ceasefire that has been in place since April.

The latest escalation prompted a wave of diplomatic reactions, with governments warning that continued military action risks destabilising the region and damaging the global economy.

Calls grow for dialogue over military action

Türkiye urged both Washington and Tehran to halt their attacks and resume negotiations, with Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan warning that the recent exchanges have heightened fears of a wider conflict.

China also expressed grave concern, saying military action would only worsen the crisis and urging all parties to return to dialogue while respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of regional states.

Russia echoed those concerns, warning that the renewed tensions could have serious consequences not only for the Middle East but also for the international economy. The Kremlin called on all sides to exercise restraint and return to talks.

Pakistan, which helped broker the April 8 ceasefire and has served as a mediator between the United States and Iran, stressed the need to preserve diplomatic channels and expand efforts towards dialogue.

Gulf states condemn attacks

Saudi Arabia condemned repeated Iranian attacks targeting Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait, warning that violations of neighbouring states' sovereignty could further inflame an already volatile situation.

Riyadh called for restraint and renewed support for Pakistan-mediated negotiations backed by Qatar as a pathway to preventing a return to full-scale war.

Kuwait also strongly condemned the attacks, describing them as deliberate aggression and a violation of its sovereignty, while stating that it reserves the right to take all necessary measures to protect its security and territory.

The growing international chorus reflects mounting concern that the latest military exchanges could unravel diplomatic efforts and push the region towards a broader confrontation.
