President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has hosted Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong in Istanbul, where the two leaders discussed bilateral relations as well as pressing regional and global developments.

During the meeting on Friday, President Erdogan underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation between Türkiye and Singapore, highlighting opportunities to deepen ties across a range of strategic sectors, according to Türkiye’s Communications Directorate. 

Erdogan reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to expanding collaboration in defence, logistics, aviation, maritime affairs and finance.

Focus on regional stability

The leaders also exchanged views on developments in the Middle East and broader international issues. 

President Erdogan noted that Türkiye has been engaged in intensive diplomatic efforts aimed at securing a lasting peace between Iran and the United States.

Emphasising the critical role of global trade routes, Erdogan stressed the importance of maintaining freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. 

He said Türkiye would continue working closely with brotherly countries and contribute in every possible way to efforts aimed at preserving regional stability and supporting diplomatic solutions.
