Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan held a meeting on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
Bayramov and Mirzoyan highlighted the importance of peace between their countries and reviewed the progress achieved since a summit held in Washington, DC, in August 2025, during which Baku and Yerevan signed a joint declaration and initialled a peace agreement, according to a statement by the Azerbaijani foreign ministry.
“Particular attention was paid to unblocking the economic and transport infrastructure between Azerbaijan and Armenia,” the statement said.
The two ministers noted trade and transit interactions between their countries as “practical examples of the benefits of peace,” the statement said, adding that they also exchanged views on the possibility of promoting a positive agenda in various multilateral platforms.
“The Ministers agreed to continue their direct dialogue,” it also said.
An identical statement was released by the Armenian foreign ministry following the talks.
