Nine Syrian refugees from the same family, including six children, have been killed in an Israeli air strike targeting a residential house in southern Lebanon, according to Lebanese authorities.
Lebanese state news agency NNA reported that Israeli warplanes struck a house inhabited by civilians in the town of Adloun, near the southern city of Sidon (Saida).
The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health said the bodies that were recovered from the rubble belonged to the same family.
Israel has continued its attacks on Lebanon despite a ceasefire that took effect on 17 April, which was extended for 45 days beginning 17 May following indirect talks mediated by the US.
Israeli forces push north of Litani River
The fatal strike comes as a senior Lebanese military source confirmed that the Israeli army has advanced into villages located north of the Litani River and reached the outskirts of Nabatieh city in southern Lebanon.
Israeli forces have pushed into several towns, including Zawtar al-Sharqiyah and Shqif Arnoun, accompanied by an increase in attacks and invasions into more southern municipalities.
In response to the rapid advance, the Lebanese army has evacuated its positions from villages and towns that have come under Israeli control.
The military source stated the withdrawal was executed to ensure the safety of personnel after Israeli attacks caused casualties among Lebanese soldiers.
