Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has held a teleconference with US President Donald Trump and regional leaders on Iran and Middle East developments, according to Türkiye's Communications Directorate.
The high-level diplomatic contact comes as Trump announced that a landmark agreement with Iran to end the war between the two nations "has been largely negotiated, subject to finalisation."
Erdogan said any agreement with Iran ensuring free passage through the Strait of Hormuz would support regional stability.
Ankara will provide all necessary support for the implementation of any potential agreement with Tehran, Erdogan reaffirmed.
Türkiye seeks a new era in which regional countries do not pose threats to one another, he said, stressing that a "just peace would have no losers."
Finalisation of peace pact
Writing on social media, Trump stated that the historic accord currently under discussion involves the United States, Iran, and various other countries.
He noted that the final aspects and details of the deal are being reviewed and will be announced shortly, adding that the framework aims to bring a permanent end to the hostilities.
The US President described the joint diplomatic discussions as a "very good call."
The collective phone summit included top officials and leaders from Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain
