In retaliation for an Israeli strike on its South Pars gas field, Iran launched a ballistic missile at Qatar’s Ras Laffan, home to the world’s largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility, causing “extensive damage.”

The strikes mark a major escalation in the war, raising the risk of significant disruption to global energy markets, as Qatar is the world’s second-largest LNG exporter and the leading LNG supplier to Asia.
