Israeli police disrupted a graduation ceremony for Palestinian students in occupied East Jerusalem on Monday and detained several Palestinians, while attacks by illegal Israeli settlers injured three people in the southern occupied West Bank.

The Jerusalem Governorate said Israeli forces raided Khan Tankiz near Al-Aqsa Mosque and prevented a graduation ceremony for students from Al-Quds University from taking place.

The forces detained Youssef al-Natsheh, director of the university’s Centre for Jerusalem Studies; Raed Saadeh, executive director of the Jerusalem Tourism Cluster; artist Hossam Abu Aisha; and Hassan al-Louzi, taking them for interrogation, according to the governorate.

In the southern occupied West Bank, three Palestinians suffered breathing difficulties after illegal Israeli settlers sprayed gas in their faces during an attack near the town of As-Samu, south of Hebron, said rights activist Osama Makhamra.

The official Palestinian news agency Wafa also reported Israeli army raids in Bethlehem and the Dheisheh refugee camp.

Illegal Israeli settlers, meanwhile, entered the Abu Njeim area south of Bethlehem and blocked a dirt road leading to several Palestinian homes with stones, the agency said.

In the central occupied West Bank, illegal Israeli settlers attacked a Palestinian vehicle near the town of Sinjil, according to the state broadcaster Voice of Palestine.

Further north, the Israeli army detained a young Palestinian man on a road near the Arab American University south of Jenin, Palestine TV reported.

Attacks by the Israeli forces and illegal settlers in the occupied West Bank since the start of Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza have killed 1,182 Palestinians and injured more than 12,000 others, while around 24,000 have been arrested, according to official Palestinian figures.
