Israeli forces have detained 12 Palestinians in overnight raids across the occupied West Bank, while illegal Israeli settlers burned four vehicles belonging to Palestinians over two days in Beita and Umm Safa, Palestinian sources reported on Wednesday.

The official Palestinian news agency WAFA said Israeli forces raided Balata refugee camp, east of Nablus, and detained three Palestinians.

The forces also raided a metal workshop and seized equipment before detaining its owner and his two sons following a raid on their home in the al-Jawza neighbourhood of Nablus’ Old City.

In the nearby village of al-Rashaydah, east of Bethlehem, Israeli forces raided several homes, detained and questioned four Palestinians, according to WAFA.

Israeli forces also detained two young men in the town of Aqaba, north of Tubas, after raiding their homes.

Illegal settler attacks reported

Meanwhile, illegal Israeli settlers attacked the eastern area of Beita and set fire to two vehicles parked outside Palestinian homes early on Wednesday, local sources told Anadolu.

On Tuesday, illegal settlers burned another two Palestinian vehicles and spray-painted racist slogans during a raid on the village of Umm Safa in the central occupied West Bank.

Since Israel launched its genocidal war on Gaza in October 2023, attacks by Israeli forces against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank have intensified, while illegal settler violence has also increased.

The Palestinian Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission said settlers carried out 628 attacks against Palestinians, their land and property during August.

The commission said the attacks directly harmed 164 Palestinians, including 20 children and 17 women. It added that illegal settlers also targeted 21,508 trees, including 19,375 olive trees.

About 750,000 Israeli settlers live in 141 illegal settlements and 224 outposts in the occupied West Bank, with 250,000 living in 15 illegal settlements in occupied East Jerusalem, according to Palestinian figures.
