Queensland is set to ban the phrase “From the river to the sea” under new hate speech laws, joining other Australian states. The move, announced after the Bondi attack, would criminalise the public use of prescribed pro-Palestinian slogans.
Attorney-General Deb Frecklington confirmed that phrases including “Globalise the Intifada” and “From the river to the sea” would be listed as prescribed expressions under the legislation.
