Arab foreign ministers on Monday called for immediate international action to protect Palestinians and firmly rejected any attempt to forcibly remove them from their land, warning that displacement would constitute ethnic cleansing and a serious violation of international law.
The call came in resolutions adopted at the conclusion of an Arab League ministerial meeting in Cairo, where ministers urged the international community, including the United Nations and Security Council, to act against Israeli attacks and violence targeting Palestinians.
Arab League backs Gaza reconstruction plan
The ministers called for political, financial and legal backing for an Arab-Islamic plan to rebuild Gaza and supported convening an international conference in Cairo to mobilise funding for reconstruction.
They also urged the full implementation of all phases of the Gaza ceasefire agreement reached at the 2025 Sharm el-Sheikh peace summit, including an end to Israeli attacks and the reconstruction of the enclave.
The ministers categorically rejected Palestinian displacement and any effort to alter the demographic composition of the occupied Palestinian territories, including proposals described by Israel as “voluntary migration.”
They warned that any forced displacement of Palestinians would amount to ethnic cleansing and violate international law.
Ministers condemn Gaza humanitarian toll
The Arab ministers also condemned Israel’s conduct in Gaza, citing what they described as genocide, starvation, siege, war crimes and crimes against humanity.
According to the figures provided, more than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 174,000 injured since the genocidal war began, while large parts of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure have been destroyed or damaged.
The ministers’ resolutions put renewed emphasis on protecting Palestinians in Gaza, preventing permanent displacement and securing international support for the besieged enclave’s recovery and reconstruction.
