Qatar, Egypt and Jordan have condemned Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting neighbouring countries, warning that continued military escalation could deepen regional instability and undermine diplomatic efforts to restore security.
Egypt on Wednesday strongly condemned the attacks as violations of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the targeted Arab states, describing them as a dangerous escalation that threatens regional security, stability and the safety of civilians.
Cairo expressed full solidarity with Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan and rejected attacks against the security, sovereignty or territorial integrity of Arab countries. It also warned that continued escalation could trigger a cycle of confrontation and instability, with potential consequences for international security and freedom of navigation.
Arab states warn against widening escalation
Qatar similarly described the attacks on Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait as a flagrant violation of their sovereignty and territorial integrity and a breach of international law and the UN Charter.
The Qatari foreign ministry held Iran fully legally responsible for the attacks and their consequences, warning that continued strikes could undermine political and diplomatic efforts to restore stability.
Doha called on all parties to avoid steps that could widen the conflict and urged a serious return to dialogue and negotiations.
Jordan backs Bahrain and Kuwait
Jordan also condemned what it called blatant Iranian attacks on Bahrain and Kuwait, describing them as a dangerous escalation and a serious breach of international law.
Amman expressed full solidarity with Bahrain and Kuwait and said it supports any measures they take to protect their sovereignty, security and the safety of citizens and residents.
Iran says strikes retaliated against US attacks
Earlier, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said it had attacked several US military facilities in neighbouring countries, including Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Bahrain and Iraq.
The IRGC said the strikes were carried out in retaliation for US attacks on residential areas in Iran a day earlier.
US Central Command said late on Tuesday that it had launched strikes against IRGC targets in Iran. Iranian media subsequently reported explosions on Qeshm Island and in Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Chabahar and Konarak.
