The United Arab Emirates said it had dealt with a drone over its territorial waters coming from Iran, after Tehran claimed an attack on a US base in the Gulf country.

"The Ministry of Defence announced that the UAE Air Force responded to a UAV detected over the country's territorial waters, approaching from Iran," the ministry said in a statement on X.

Iran has condemned renewed US attacks on its island of Larak and justified strikes by Iranian forces on bases in Jordan as "legitimate defence".

In a statement, the foreign ministry said Iran "strongly condemned the American military aggression on Larak", adding that Iranian forces responded "in accordance with the inherent right of legitimate defence".

An oil tanker caught fire after striking two sea mines while attempting to take an “illegal” route through the Strait of Hormuz, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) has said.

The vessel was “completely stopped after being hit by two sea mines,” the IRGC said in a statement carried by state-run broadcaster IRIB.

The IRGC did not provide details on casualties or the extent of the damage.

It called on vessels transiting the strategic waterway to comply with procedures announced by Tehran for passage through the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran's military has said that it had launched dozens of explosive drones at US troops and helicopters stationed at Al Minhad Air Base in the United Arab Emirates in retaliation for a US strike on Iran's Larak Island.

“Since early this morning, the Islamic Republic of Iran Army has targeted locations housing US military helicopters and personnel at Al Minhad base in the UAE with dozens of explosive drones,” the army said, according to Iranian news agencies.

It described Al Minhad as an important logistics and air transport hub for foreign forces and vowed further retaliation against US troops.

US President Donald Trump reiterated that Iran must never be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons, describing the country’s leadership as “very violent, evil people.”

“You cannot let them have a nuclear weapon, and they won’t have a nuclear weapon,” Trump told Fox News in an interview published on Sunday.

He argued that Tehran would have used a nuclear weapon had it acquired one, claiming that the Middle East “would have essentially been gone” and that Israel would have been destroyed, with the US or Europe possibly becoming the next targets.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said Tehran does not seek conflict but warned that it would respond decisively to any further attack.

In his first remarks since the US attack on Iran’s Larak Island, Pezeshkian made the comments before departing for Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, for a Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit.

Iran “will give a decisive response to the aggressors” if attacked, he said, according to Fars news agency.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says it has shot down a US MQ-9 drone over the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iran’s Mehr news agency.

The reported downing comes amid a sharp escalation between Tehran and Washington following US attacks on Iran and subsequent Iranian strikes on US military targets in the region.

Trump has posted an AI-generated video on Truth Social showing a simulated attack on Iran’s Kharg Island, a key hub for the country’s oil exports.

The video depicts an oil storage facility and tanker engulfed in explosions, viewed from an aircraft overhead. “Kharg Island being blown to smithereens!!! President DJT,” Trump wrote alongside the footage.

Kharg Island handled the bulk of Iran’s crude exports, making the facility a crucial link in the country’s oil industry and a major source of export revenue.

US Central Command has said its forces carried out a “limited, precise” operation against IRGC minelaying forces on Larak Island, saying they posed an imminent threat to shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

CENTCOM said the action was aimed at protecting civilian mariners, commercial vessels and the flow of global trade through the waterway.

CENTCOM also said 83 commercial vessels have been redirected since Washington reinstated its naval blockade of Iran on July 14, while three vessels have been disabled and two boarded.

The latest figures mark one additional vessel redirected since Friday, when the command reported a total of 82.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards launch ballistic missile attacks on two US bases in Jordan as senior lawmaker warns "retaliation is coming".

Jordan’s armed forces say they intercepted eight missiles that entered the country’s airspace on Monday, according to state television.

The missiles were destroyed before posing any threat to civilians or property, the army said in a statement.

Earlier, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it had struck the King Hussein and Azraq US airbases in Jordan with ballistic missiles in retaliation for a US attack on Iran’s Larak Island.

The IRGC said the attack involved missiles and drones targeting infrastructure and areas where fighter jets were stationed, claiming “heavy damage.”

Yemeni government forces have said that they had seized a shipment of Iranian drone components in the Red Sea that was bound for the Houthi group.

Sadiq Dwaid, a military spokesman for the government-aligned National Resistance Forces, said on X that the seizure reflects “the vigilance of our forces in protecting our territorial waters and severing Iranian supply lines.”

The shipment was reportedly intercepted by Yemeni naval forces in the Red Sea while being transported to the Houthis.

Iran has launched attacks on US forces stationed in Jordan, Fox News reporter Trey Yingst said, citing a US source, in a sharp escalation of the confrontation. Nearly all incoming missiles have been intercepted so far, with no significant impact reported.

Iranian state television said missiles were launched from several parts of Iran towards targets across the region, signalling a potentially wider wave of attacks.

Oil prices have jumped more than 2 percent after US forces struck Iran’s Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz, injecting fresh volatility into energy markets.

The rise came as traders assessed the risk of further escalation around the strategic waterway, a critical route for global oil and fuel shipments.

Ebrahim Azizi, head of the Iranian parliament’s national security commission, has vowed retaliation for the US strike on Larak Island, warning in separate posts on X that Tehran’s response would be severe.

“Undoubtedly, no crime, at any level, goes unanswered; a response that is devastating, more painful, and instructive, which will complete the chain of your failures,” Azizi wrote in Farsi, adding: “Wait in fear and terror!”

In a separate English-language post, he wrote: “Test our will once more, and pay a heavier price. Retaliation is coming; JUST RUN!”

US attack kills and injures a number of IRGC members and civilians, with the Guards vowing retaliation and "punishment of the aggressor".

The United States has confirmed that it carried out air strikes on Iranian rocket launchers on a small island in the Strait of Hormuz, its first attacks on Iran since late July.

"Earlier today, US forces struck two Iranian launchers on Larak Island. Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces were observed preparing to launch rockets with sea mines into the Strait of Hormuz," US Navy Captain Tim Hawkins said in a message to AFP.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have warned that the US will face consequences for its attack on Larak Island on both the economic and military fronts, according to Fars news agency.

IRGC spokesperson Sardar Mohebi accused Washington of making “a strategic and fatal mistake”, saying it would pay the consequences “in both the economic and military arenas”.

Lebanon has said that relations with Iran must be conducted through the country’s legitimate state institutions rather than with individual groups or factions.

The foreign ministry welcomed Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi’s desire to establish good relations with the government in Beirut but stressed that respect for sovereignty must be reciprocal.

“Rationality in relations between states requires dealing first with states through their constitutional and legitimate institutions, not with parties or factions within them,” the ministry said in a statement.
