Iran’s army has said that it carried out drone attacks targeting US military facilities in Bahrain and the UAE, providing further details about its operations against US forces in the region.

The army’s Public Relations Department said that in the “30th phase of Operation Saeeqah,” dozens of explosive drones targeted radar systems and locations where US forces were stationed at Al Dhafra and Al Minhad air bases in the UAE beginning early on Wednesday.

It said radar installations and gathering points used by US forces at Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain were also targeted again in large-scale attacks using Arash explosive drones. The Iranian military described Al Dhafra as a major US operational facility in the region used for air operations, reconnaissance, surveillance, and support.

Three liquefied natural gas cargoes loaded in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates have been transferred between ships outside the Strait of Hormuz in recent weeks for delivery to India and Japan, according to ship-tracking firms.

Several commercial vessels have faced attacks amid heightened tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.

Most LNG tankers that have managed to transit the strait have delivered the cargoes directly to end-buyers. Unlike crude oil, ship-to-ship (STS) LNG transfers are unusual.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that US personnel were killed and drones were destroyed in a missile and drone attack on Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait.

In a statement, the IRGC said its Ground Force carried out a combined missile and drone attack on the headquarters and accommodation of the US commander at the base, claiming that “a number” of US personnel were killed.

It also claimed that the attack set fire to a drone hangar and a drone deployment ramp and destroyed several drones that it said had participated in attacks against Iran.

The IRGC said the strike was carried out simultaneously with attacks on US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Erbil.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Wednesday that it carried out a missile and drone attack on US bases in Iraq.

It claimed that some US military facilities and equipment were destroyed in the attacks. The IRGC said missile and drone strikes on US bases in Erbil were carried out in retaliation for overnight US attacks.

It claimed that a maintenance centre and technical equipment storage facilities belonging to the US military were destroyed, and the guidance system of an American surveillance balloon inside the base was also hit. The IRGC also alleged that the base’s fuel storage facilities were set on fire and that some American soldiers were killed.

Peru has announced that it has decided to break diplomatic relations with Iran, amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.

The foreign ministry said the decision was based on Peru’s “historic commitment to peace,” respect for international law and defence of democracy.

Peru said it watched with growing concern "the deterioration of democratic values in Iran," pointing to “the repression of peaceful demonstrations, the curtailment of freedom of the press, discrimination against women and girls, and the persecution of political opponents.”

It also expressed concern about disruptions to international trade through the Strait of Hormuz since March.

A car struck a gathering of supporters of Iran's government and armed forces in the northeastern city of Mashhad overnight, killing four people and injuring more than 10, several Iranian media reported on Wednesday.

A car travelling at high speed first collided with another vehicle, lost control and then veered into the crowd after hitting safety barriers and traffic signs, Noor News reported, citing Mohsen Mousa-Abadi, head of Razavi Khorasan Province's traffic police.

Initial checks showed the driver, who was arrested, was not in a normal state, Mousa-Abadi said, without giving details on his condition.

There was no immediate indication of a political motive, and authorities described the incident as a traffic accident.

Iran has said that US strikes on its territory killed 11 people, state media reported, after a fresh attack in the southwestern province of Khuzestan.

"The Deputy Governor of Khuzestan Province for Security and Law Enforcement Affairs said that last night's US missile attack on three locations in the province left seven people dead and eight injured," state-run IRNA said.

It came after the Iranian Red Crescent said Tuesday that four people, including a child, were killed and more than 50 people were wounded by a US attack at a wedding in southern Sirik county.

The US military struck two Iranian tankers on Tuesday as part of a broader wave of attacks targeting Iran, according to US officials cited by the Axios news website.

The strikes marked the first time the US has targeted Iranian tankers in retaliation for attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz, rather than to prevent violations of a US naval blockade, Axios said.

A US official said the operation was part of a new "tanker for tanker" policy approved by President Donald Trump to deter Iranian attacks on tankers transiting the strategic waterway.

Oil prices rose nearly 1% in early trade on Wednesday, extending the previous session's surge, as concerns over supply disruption intensified after the U.S. and Iran exchanged strikes overnight, dimming hopes for a quick easing of tensions in the Middle East.

Brent crude futures rose 87 cents, or 0.92%, to $95.52 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate crude futures climbed 80 cents, or 0.89%, to $91.02. 

Both contracts soared more than $4 on Tuesday, marking Brent's largest gain since July 24 and WTI's largest since July 23.

The reported attacks come amid a broader escalation between Washington and Tehran, with Iran targeting US military facilities across the region following fresh American strikes on Iranian targets.

Bahrain has announced that its air defense systems intercepted drone attacks launched from Iran amid renewed tensions in the Middle East.

State news agency BNA indicated that the Bahrain National Communication Centre said the country’s air defence systems had responded to the attacks and destroyed the drones.

It added that the air defence systems remained on a high state of alert to protect the country’s security.

Bahrain has issued a danger alert, urging the public to remain calm and move to the nearest safe location amid tensions in the Middle East.

The Interior Ministry urged people to remain calm and go to the nearest safe place, and advised the public to follow news through official channels to help maintain public safety.

Ebrahim Azizi, head of Iran’s parliamentary National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, has condemned a deadly attack on a wedding ceremony in Kuhestak and said those responsible would face retaliation.

In a post on X, Azizi said civilians had been killed in the incident and linked it to what he described as previous attacks in Minab and Lamerd. He said those responsible would be held accountable.

US Central Command has said that American forces have completed a wave of strikes against Iranian military targets.

CENTCOM said the operation targeted assets linked to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, including air defence sites, radar systems, maritime assets, mine-laying capabilities and communications facilities.

The command said the strikes followed what it described as attempted IRGC attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and American service members.

Kuwait’s military says its air defence systems are responding to what it described as hostile drone attacks from Iran.

The General Staff of the Kuwaiti Armed Forces said in a post on X that explosions heard in the country were caused by air defence systems intercepting the drones.

It urged residents to follow safety and security guidance issued by the relevant authorities.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps says it launched ballistic missiles at a US military facility near Aqaba in southern Jordan.

In a statement broadcast by Iranian state media, the IRGC said the attack targeted a US Marine Corps barracks at Camp Titin.

The group claimed the strikes caused casualties among US personnel and damaged military infrastructure and helicopters. Those claims could not be independently verified.

The IRGC said the operation was part of Iran’s response to US strikes and indicated that further action could follow.

Meanwhile, Jordan said its air defences intercepted 13 ballistic missiles that entered the kingdom's airspace.

Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has said that "the Iranian people and the Resistance Front have unforgettable lessons to teach the American enemy."

Khamenei made the remarks in a brief statement released on his Telegram channel, his first comments following renewed escalation with the US on Tuesday evening.

Tensions between Tehran and Washington have remained high since a war began with strikes on Iran in late February.

A framework deal was signed in June through Pakistani and Qatari mediation.

Sirens have sounded in Jordan's Mafraq and Aqaba governorates after missile launches from Iran, the country’s Al-Mamlaka TV reported.

Jordan's national centre for security and crisis management sent text messages urging citizens to take shelter in safe places and follow official instructions, according to the broadcaster.

The development came after the US Central Command said American forces began striking targets belonging to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Tehran later announced it had begun retaliatory strikes.

Iranian media also reported that the country's military had launched a "decisive operation" against US targets in the region.

The Tasnim news agency said a "decisive operation by Iran's armed forces in response to the US enemy has begun. The US bases and interests in the region are being targeted by Iranian missiles and drones."

Several Iranians, including a child, have been killed, and over 50 residents have been wounded in the latest US strikes on Iran, says the head of the health ministry’s information centre.

US forces have attacked an area near Iran's southwestern city of Ahvaz in Khuzestan province, Iranian media reported.

The UN nuclear watchdog says it remains unable to verify the status of Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile, raising concerns over nuclear proliferation.

A US MQ-9-type drone has been shot down over the skies of Iran's central city of Khomein in Markazi province, Tasnim news agency reports.

The drone was shot down by Iranian defence systems, it said, without providing further details.

Iran has said at least two people have been killed and several wounded at a wedding near Sirik in an alleged US attack.

Iranian state television earlier reported that several people who were attending a wedding ceremony were wounded by a US attack in the country's south.

"Several residents were wounded in the attack while attending a wedding ceremony," state television reported, adding that the US attack hit a "residential area" in Bandar Kuhestak in Sirik county.

The US president warns Iran of a 'much harder and higher' response if Tehran retaliates.

Iran's Fars News Agency has reported an explosion in Asaluyeh, a key gas hub on the Gulf coast.

The United States struck an airport in the southern Iranian province of Kerman, state television reported, as Washington announced a fresh wave of attacks.

"Minutes ago, the US attack targeted Jiroft airport," state television said, after reporting several strikes along the coast of the Strait of Hormuz and on Iranian islands in the Gulf.

Later, Fars News Agency, citing the province's deputy governor, said the attack caused "no casualties and did not damage the runway or the airport buildings."

The UN nuclear agency said in a confidential report that the lack of access to key nuclear sites in Iran "needs to be addressed with the utmost urgency".

"The agency's lack of information about this nuclear material and access to facilities to verify it is a matter of proliferation concern," the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said in the report.

IAEA head Rafael Grossi "again expresses his conviction that the long-standing problems and recurrent crises surrounding these issues must be resolved through a long-lasting, verifiable diplomatic agreement", the report said.

The IAEA has not had access to some key nuclear facilities in Iran since Israel, joined by the United States, launched a 12-day conflict in June 2025 that included strikes on nuclear sites.

Nuclear facilities have also been hit in the latest war, which erupted on February 28. The IAEA has repeatedly urged access.

Iran's Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) has vowed to make the United States "regret" fresh attacks around the Strait of Hormuz, even as US President Donald Trump warned Tehran against striking back.

"Severe punishment awaits the aggressors; the United States will regret its new attacks," said IRGC spokesperson Hossein Mohebi in a post on X, after explosions were heard in multiple areas along and east of Hormuz.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Bishkek, according to a statement from the UN chief's office.

Guterres voiced concern over "the devastating humanitarian and economic consequences of the conflict in Iran, in the region and beyond," the statement said.

He stressed the "urgent need to resolve the conflict through dialogue and negotiations, with full respect for international law, including international navigational rights and freedoms in and around the Strait of Hormuz."

The UN chief also reaffirmed the world body's commitment "to support all diplomatic efforts aimed at a comprehensive and durable solution", according to the readout.

The meeting took place on the margins of the SCO summit, which brought together leaders from the regional bloc in the Kyrgyz capital.

President Donald Trump warned Iran not to retaliate against the latest US strikes, saying Tehran faced "much harder and higher" attacks if it hit back.

Trump said Tuesday's US attacks near the Strait of Hormuz were in response to Iran laying mines and shooting missiles at an American base in Jordan.

"If the failed Nation of Iran retaliates for this very justified attack, they will be hit again at a much harder and higher level, but it will not be the biggest attack of them all; that is waiting in the wings, and when it is over, there will be very little left of Iran!" Trump said on his Truth Social network.

Iranian state media has said that four projectiles hit parts of the southeastern Sistan-Baluchistan province, east of the Strait of Hormuz.

"Four projectiles had hit areas within the counties of Chabahar and Konarak," said the official IRNA news agency, citing provincial official Ali Khalilabadi, without specifying whether there was any damage.

The US Embassy in Israel has warned Americans in the Middle East of possible flight cancellations, airspace closures, and travel disruptions due to “potential for unforeseen escalation".

“Due to tensions in the Middle East, the security environment remains complex with the potential for unforeseen escalation,” the embassy said in an advisory.

“US diplomatic facilities, including outside the Middle East, have been targeted,” it said.

“Iran and groups supportive of Iran may target other US interests overseas or at locations associated with the United States and Americans throughout the world, including US businesses and other institutions,” it added.

The embassy also urged US citizens travelling to or from the region to stay informed about airport and airline operations.

Several explosions were heard east of Iran’s southern port city of Bandar Abbas in Hormozgan province, state media reported.

More than five explosions were heard around Masan village on Qeshm Island, IRIB said, adding that four more explosions were also heard from the direction of the Strait of Hormuz on Qeshm.

Citing the deputy governor of Hormozgan province for political, security and social affairs, the outlet added that no casualties have been recorded in the province so far.

Continued Israeli attacks and military activity in southern Lebanon are still affecting civilians, sometimes preventing people from returning home or causing localised displacement, the UN refugee agency said.

Responding in writing to an Anadolu question about displacement caused by Israeli attacks despite a ceasefire, UNHCR spokesperson Babar Baloch said: “Continued Israeli strikes and military activity in southern Lebanon continue to affect civilians and can, at times, hinder returns or trigger localised displacement.”
