Iran’s Revolutionary Guards say a supertanker carrying more than two million barrels of crude caught fire after striking a mine in the contested strait.

Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defence said on Saturday that a threat to the southwestern city of Abha and Khamis Mushait governorate had ended after alarms were activated for the second time during the day.

In two posts on US social media company X, the Civil Defence said the threat had passed in Abha and Khamis Mushait, urging residents to continue following safety instructions and avoid gathering or filming.

The alarms were activated through the country’s National Early Warning Platform to warn of a threat in the two areas.

Türkiye's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty in Iraqi capital Baghdad on Saturday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said.

The ministry did not provide further details about the meeting.

The 52nd session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) began in Baghdad on Saturday.

A second tanker attack was reported in the same area off Saudi Arabia, the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said on Saturday.

The latest incident occurred at 1922GMT Friday around 78 nautical miles (144 kilometres) northeast of Al Jubayl, according to a UKMTO advisory.

The tanker’s master reported that the vessel was attacked with a rocket-propelled grenade fired from a small boat, damaging its aft port quarter.

All crew members were accounted for and reported safe, while a full assessment of the damage and any environmental impact was not immediately available.

Authorities are investigating the incident, while vessels in the area were advised to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity.

One Palestinian was killed and several others were injured in an Israeli drone strike on a gathering of civilians in Gaza City on Saturday, the official Palestinian news agency reported.

An unidentified young man was killed and several others were injured when an Israeli drone struck a gathering in the Tuffah neighbourhood, northeast of Gaza City, WAFA said, citing medical sources.

Israeli military vehicles also opened heavy fire in areas south of Khan Younis, while artillery shelling was reported in eastern Gaza City, the agency added.

The 52nd session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) began in the Iraqi capital Baghdad on Saturday.

Iraqi Foreign Ministry spokesman Ambassador Hassanein Kamil said the meeting began after all participating delegations arrived in the capital.

The Iraqi Foreign Ministry said on Friday that preparations for the two-day meeting were complete.

During the meeting, Iraq is expected to take over the OIC's rotating presidency from Türkiye.

The meeting, under the theme Dialogue and Solidarity: Two Essential Pillars for Promoting Peace and Sustainable Development, is expected to address Israel's ongoing attacks in Gaza and developments in other conflict zones across the Islamic world.

A tanker was struck by an unknown projectile off the coast of Saudi Arabia, the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said on Saturday.

UKMTO said it received a delayed report of an incident that occurred at 0900GMT on Friday, around 68 nautical miles northeast of Al Jubayl, Saudi Arabia.

Citing the vessel’s company security officer, UKMTO said all crew members were safe and had been evacuated.

No environmental impact was reported at the time of the report.

US Vice President JD Vance suggested in an interview aired on Friday that he may have disagreed with President Donald Trump over the Iran war “Even if you disagree with him on that one issue, you can have that disagreement. And I think I have had that disagreement,” Vance said on a political talk show hosted by former White House spokesman Sean Spicer.

Vance was responding to a question about his relationship with political commentator and former Trump ally Tucker Carlson, who has sharply criticised the Iran war, arguing that it serves Israeli rather than American interests and contradicts Trump’s pledge to avoid costly foreign military interventions.

Vance said that Carlson, who has espoused conservative views, was “very, very angry” over the war. “He and I have had that conversation in private, in public. I know how he feels, and I understand,” he said.

“What I've said to Tucker is don't throw the baby out with the bathwater … Aren't closed borders and ending the ridiculous anti-white racial discrimination in our university admissions, aren't these things worth actually acknowledging that Donald Trump has done a lot of good?”

Shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz remained about 70 percent below pre-conflict levels as attacks on commercial vessels continued, a UK maritime agency said on Friday.

In its weekly overview, the UK Maritime Trade Operations agency (UKMTO) reported 125 outbound and 129 inbound transits over the past seven days.

The figures marked a decline from 129 outbound and 146 inbound transits recorded the previous week, according to the agency.

UKMTO reported 12 attacks on vessels during the week, including 10 in the Strait of Hormuz, one in the Gulf and one in the Gulf of Oman. Six vessels continued or reached port, one was lost, two were disabled or not under command, and three have unconfirmed outcomes.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy has said that an oil supertanker struck a naval mine in the Strait of Hormuz, triggering a massive explosion and fire.

The vessel was carrying more than 2 million barrels of crude oil when it attempted to transit the strategic waterway, according to a statement carried by the semi-official Tasnim News Agency.

The IRGC Navy described the vessel as a "rogue" tanker that had switched off its navigation and radar systems.

It claimed the tanker had attempted to exploit US military support to transport goods through the strait.

The Saudi-led coalition in Yemen has said that it destroyed Houthi ballistic missile launch ramps.

Spokesman Turki al-Maliki said on US social media platform X that the coalition destroyed launch platforms in northwestern Saada province.

No additional details were provided about the operation.

Two missiles launched by the Houthi militia landed near a passenger plane preparing to depart Aden International Airport for Cairo, Yemen internationally recognised government’s information minister has said.

In a statement, Information Minister Moammar al-Eryani said Flight 612 was preparing for takeoff when the Houthi militias targeted the airport with two missiles.

He said the missiles landed about 500 metres from the aircraft and 100 metres from the middle of the runway. No casualties were reported, according to the minister.

Al-Eryani described the attack as "not merely an attack on a civilian airport, but a direct threat to the lives of passengers and aviation crews, the safety of air navigation, and a flagrant violation of international laws."

Saudi Arabia has welcomed a UN Security Council presidential statement condemning Houthi attacks against the country and urging cooperation to prevent the militant group from obtaining weapons.

In a statement, the ministry welcomed the council's condemnation of continued and escalating attacks by the Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia, including attacks targeting airports and energy infrastructure.

It also highlighted the council's condemnation of "ongoing threats to navigation in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab."

Britain's Foreign Office has said it advises against all but essential travel to Saudi Arabia, after attacks by Yemeni Houthi militia on the country.

UK issued stricter warning against all travel within 10 kilometres of the Yemen border and urged its nationals to avoid Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport until it is secure.

Missiles fired by Houthi militia have struck Aden International Airport in southern Yemen, the country’s internationally recognised government has said. Meanwhile, a Saudi-led military coalition said it had intercepted a ballistic missile headed for the Red Sea city of Yanbu, a key Saudi oil hub that allows exports to bypass the Strait of Hormuz.

The coalition said it had also destroyed two cruise missiles over the Red Sea and three drones in Saudi Arabia's Southern and Riyadh regions. It did not identify those behind the attacks.

In Aden, two missiles launched by Houthi militia landed on the airport grounds, the Aden Security Department said. It said the incident was the second attack on the facility in less than a week.

EU leaders have "strongly" condemned actions, policies, and rhetoric that "undermine the viability" of a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict.

The bloc expressed "grave" concern over Gaza and "strongly" condemned "continued, growing settler violence" against Palestinian civilians.

Houthi militia have attacked the vicinity of Aden International Airport near Badr Camp, Yemen's Information Ministry has said.

The United States has condemned "criminal violence" in the occupied West Bank after illegal Israeli settlers attacked an American photojournalist covering violence against Palestinian olive farmers for The Washington Post.

"We condemn criminal violence by any party in the West Bank and support appropriate investigations as well as legal accountability for those responsible," a State Department official said, on condition of anonymity, without directly criticising the settlers.

"The Department has reached out to the Washington Post to offer consular assistance."

Iran's foreign ministry has rejected Saudi Arabia's accusation that Tehran was involved in Houthi militia attacks on the kingdom, offering to mediate between the two sides.

"Iran rejects any claim that Iran has played a role in Houthi operations," foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said in a statement, reiterating Tehran's offer to act as a bridge between the Houthis and Riyadh.

The UN has called for a thorough investigation into an attack on Washington Post photojournalist Heidi Levine by illegal Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank, stressing that journalists must be able to carry out their work without harassment.

"We are aware of her condition, and obviously, this is yet another case where a journalist's right to go about her duties without harassment has been violated," UN deputy spokesman Farhan Haq told reporters.

"We want to make sure that this will be investigated thoroughly and that all further harassment of journalists is prevented," he added.

The Washington Post has said it is “outraged” after one of its photographers, Heidi Levine, was attacked by illegal Israeli settlers while reporting in the occupied West Bank.

“This morning, a Washington Post photographer, Heidi Levine, was attacked by Israeli settlers while reporting in the West Bank,” the newspaper’s Executive Editor Matt Murray said in a statement.

“She was wearing visible markings clearly identifying her as a journalist,” he added.

Murray said the Post is “relieved that Heidi has received medical care and is safe" but stressed: “We are outraged by this unwarranted attack on a journalist doing her job and urge a thorough investigation and follow-through from authorities.”

A Palestinian was killed by Israeli drone fire in northwestern Gaza City, while another died of wounds sustained in an Israeli strike Thursday, and four others were wounded in an air strike on a residential building.

The incidents came amid continued Israeli violations of a ceasefire agreement in effect since October 10, 2025.

A medical source at the al-Shifa Hospital told Anadolu that a Palestinian man was killed by Israeli forces in northwestern Gaza City.

The governor of Yemen’s Taiz province has said that electricity and water stations, as well as the city’s waste collection services, have shut down because the Houthi militia were preventing fuel from entering the city.

“Houthi militias are besieging Taiz and have closed all roads leading to it for the past 15 days,” Nabil Shamsan said in a statement on Facebook.

Hospitals in Taiz are unable to provide medical care to patients due to shortages of medicines and medical supplies, Shamsan said.

At least 12 Palestinians and two foreign journalists were wounded in attacks by illegal Israeli settlers across the occupied West Bank.

A rights group said American journalist and international solidarity activist Heidi Levine was wounded when illegal Israeli settlers assaulted her in the presence of Israeli forces.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has urged Israel to halt the "forced establishment" of settlements in the occupied West Bank and called for the full reopening of access to Gaza.

Beijing maintains that the Palestinian question is the “biggest historical injustice of this century” and that the two-state solution is the correct path to resolving it, Wang told Israeli President Isaac Herzog during a meeting in Baku, Azerbaijan, on the sidelines of the seventh CICA summit.

He described the current regional situation as tense and added that peace and tranquillity remained far from being achieved.

The Chinese foreign minister said the urgent priority was to fully reopen access to Gaza to prevent its two million residents from facing a further humanitarian catastrophe, while calling on Israel to halt and reverse settlement expansion in the West Bank.

Israel has carried out air strikes, artillery shelling and demolitions across southern Lebanon, as Israeli vehicles advanced toward the outskirts of the border town of Kfar Shuba.

Lebanon’s National News Agency said Israel struck the town of Mansouri in the Tyre district.

Israeli artillery also targeted the outskirts of Bint Jbeil and the valleys of Srebbine and Zibqin, while Israeli forces fired heavily toward valleys and wooded areas in Srebbine, the agency said.

In the Nabatieh district, Israeli forces carried out two large, simultaneous explosions in Kfar Tebnit, near a school, and in Zawtar al-Sharqiya toward Nabatieh al-Fawqa.

Israeli artillery also shelled the Jarmaq area in the Jezzine district and the outskirts of Kfar Shuba.

In Kfar Shuba, the agency reported that an Israeli military bulldozer, accompanied by two tanks and several vehicles, advanced toward the southern outskirts of the town.

The Saudi-led coalition in Yemen has said that it had intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched towards the Saudi Red Sea city of Yanbu, two cruise missiles over the Red Sea, and three drones in the Riyadh region.

"We intercepted and destroyed three drones in the southern area and Riyadh and two cruise missiles over the Red Sea," coalition spokesperson Turki al-Malki wrote on X, adding that "in the past hours, we intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile over Yanbu."

Yemen’s army has said that its forces repelled “a large-scale” Houthi militia attack south of the southwestern city of Taiz, killing at least 16 militia members after nearly eight hours of intense clashes.

In a statement posted on Facebook, the army’s 22nd Mechanised Brigade said its troops, backed by local resistance fighters, thwarted a Houthi militia offensive targeting the eastern and western sectors of the Al-Shaqab front, a key southern approach to Taiz.

The brigade said preliminary information indicated that 16 Houthi militia members were killed and several others wounded during the clashes.

Iran's navy said that an oil tanker caught fire in the Gulf of Oman while attempting to cross a restricted area east of the Strait of Hormuz with its tracking systems switched off, according to a statement carried by state broadcaster IRIB.

The navy's public relations office said monitoring teams detected the burning tanker during surveillance operations in the eastern part of the strategic waterway.

The vessel had disabled its tracking systems and was attempting to navigate a “prohibited area” in the Gulf of Oman, the statement said.

The navy warned that “unauthorised movements” through restricted maritime routes and areas pose security risks to other vessels.

A commander of the Houthi militia was killed in clashes with Yemeni government forces near Mount Han in the southwestern city of Taiz, a Yemeni official said.

Fayyad al-Noman, a Yemeni media spokesperson, said on X that Abdulrahman Mohammed Sufyan Wajih al-Din, also known as Abu al-Karrar, was killed by government troops near Mount Han.

Al-Noman identified the slain Houthi commander as a brigadier general and director of Dhi al-Sufal in the Ibb province.
