Istanbul's International Tea Festival brings tea from around the world

Istanbul's first International Tea Festival is a two-day event which as organisers said was inspired by their passion for tea.

Turkey is the land of tea lovers, where more than 3 kilograms of tea is consumed per person within a year.

Tea lovers have gathered at Istanbul's historic Haydarpasa train station for the city's first International Tea Festival. The two-day event features growers from around the world showcasing various traditional ways of brewing the world's most popular drink.

Every culture has a different story about the origins of tea. But Turkey is known as the land of tea lovers.
