Türkiye has welcomed more than 22M tourists this year
It's been a red-letter year for Tourism in Turkiye, with foreign arrivals up more than 20% since January. That amounts to $21.7B in revenue across the country's tourism sector. Russian holidaymakers made up the the bulk of the tourism boom, at 2.6M visitors in the first six months of 2023. Germans were second, at 2.27M, followed by 1.3M Bulgarians and 1M Iranians. Taken as an average, tourists spent about 100 dollars per day per person. The trend shows a strong rebound from the pandemic years, and also provides a steady stream of both foreign exchange for Turkiye while supporting 2.4M jobs.
