Asian markets open higher tracking Wall Street Christmas gains
Asian markets have opened higher following Christmas holiday gains on Wall Street. Markets in Japan have risen, with the Nikkei 225 index seeing a 1.13 percent jump. Markets in China were up with the Hang Seng Index climbing 1.87 percent and the Shanghai Stock Exchange gaining 0.56 percent. And market sentiment in the US has been positive with investors betting on the US Federal Reserve cutting interest rates as early as March. Meanwhile, China's industrial profits posted double-digit gains despite demand remaining soft. The 29.5 percent profit rise came alongside a pickup in industrial output in November.
