Pope Francis has died aged 88
Pope Francis, the first pope from the Americas and the Global South, has died. Elected in 2013, the Argentinian-born Jesuit led the Catholic Church through a decade marked by modest leadership, diplomatic firsts and calls for social justice. He will be remembered for his efforts to modernise the Church while confronting deep internal crises and global challenges.
