UNRWA: In the Line of Fire | Bigger Than Five

The Head of UNRWA has described the so-called Gaza Humanitarian Foundation as a “total abomination”, accusing the US-Israeli scheme of being designed as “a tool to commit war crimes in Gaza”.

Philippe Lazzarini says the “soldiers, the mercenaries who are part of this scheme could be individually accused of war crimes”.

More than 600 Palestinians were shot and killed and at least 4,000 injured since the GHF launched its operations at the end of May.

Lazzarini says “all possible red lines have been crossed” with total impunity, and that hunger and aid have been “completely weaponised”.

We sat down with Philippe Lazzarini at the UN in Geneva to discuss the future of UNRWA as it faces growing political and financial pressures.
