Türkiye opens first Akkuyu nuclear power plant
In April, Turkiye's first nuclear power plant - Akkuyu - was officially granted nuclear facility status, after receiving its first shipment of fuel. Turkiye has risen to the ranks of countries with nuclear power status, and the new plant in the south of country, which is due to become fully operational by 2028 - is an important step towards energy independence.
