US urges all parties to refrain from escalation in the region
The United States is urging countries in the Middle East to use the utmost restraint to de-escalate growing tensions in the region. The US Secretary of State Antony Blinken says Washington is "engaged in intense diplomacy" to calm tensions, amid fears that Iran is preparing a retaliatory strike against Israel.
