Turkey women’s national volleyball team won gold medal in the European Games, defeating Poland 3-0 in the final in Baku, Azerbaijan on Saturday.
Turkish team started the game with a dominant performance winning the first two sets with large margins 25-11 and 25-19.
Continuing its strong defencive performance, Turkish women’s team, also known as “the Sultans of the Net,” won the third set 25-13 and the final game 3-0.
With the victory, Turkey reached its sixth gold medal and 29th medal in total in the games so far.
Serbia claimed the bronze medal, beating Azerbaijan 3-2 earlier in the day.
The first ever European Games started on June 12 in Azerbaijan’s capital Baku and will end on June 28.
Russia leads the medal standings with 78 gold, followed by Azerbaijan which has 21 and Great Britain 18 gold medals respectively so far.
