French anti-terror prosecutors have opened an investigation into a shooting near Paris that left one person dead and four wounded on Friday.
The National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office said it is looking into "murder in connection with a terrorist enterprise" over the attack in Trappes, west of the capital, and neighbouring La Verriere.
Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu said a gunman opened fire on Friday morning in the Yvelines department.
"The individual has been arrested and placed in police custody," he wrote on X, adding that all security forces are fully mobilised.
Broadcaster BFMTV reported that the suspect fired multiple rounds at people in public from a vehicle, first in Trappes and then in La Verriere.
The death toll could still change as the situation develops, according to reports.
