Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has confirmed that Moscow will consider proposals brought by United States envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner but stressed that Russia will make no political concessions.

Speaking during an address to recent university graduates entering the Russian diplomatic service, Lavrov stated that Moscow intends to evaluate any American proposals strictly on their economic and financial merits.

"We shall see what they propose. If they offer something that is economically and financially advantageous to us, then why not?" Lavrov said.

However, he insisted that any prospective agreement must remain devoid of political compromises or expectations of diplomatic favours, stressing: "We must rely solely on ourselves".

Referring to US President Donald Trump's decision to waive key Russia-related sanctions, Lavrov argued Washington acted out of self-interest rather than abandoning duties permanently.

Prospective Kremlin meetings

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow hopes Witkoff and Kushner will meet President Vladimir Putin in the near future, describing their diplomatic channel as "important, timely and substantive".

Peskov noted the Kremlin anticipates the US envoys will brief Putin on their talks with Ukrainian and European officials.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy separately confirmed that Witkoff is expected to travel to Russia on Wednesday to convey peace proposals formulated during talks with Nordic leaders in Oslo.

"We have some clear ideas on how to get to peace. And we are united with our European partners in this effort, and we want the Americans to take these ideas to the Russians," Zelenskyy said, reiterating calls for a potential trilateral summit between the leaders of Ukraine, Russia, and the United States.
