Palestinian singer and songwriter Saint Levant has postponed his North American tour until spring 2027 due to ongoing issues with his US visa, he announced on Tuesday.
The artist, whose real name is Marwan Abdelhamid, said he had faced “major US visa issues” for several years. Although his latest visa application was initially approved, he said he was unexpectedly asked to undergo additional background checks that could take several months.
After consulting his legal team and Palestinian and Arab peers who had experienced similar issues, Abdelhamid said he and his team made the “difficult decision” to postpone the North American concerts until spring 2027.
He said the decision was made in the hope that the visa process would be completed by then.
Born in occupied East Jerusalem, Saint Levant was raised in Gaza before moving with his family to Amman, Jordan, at the age of seven.
Saint Levant has gained international attention for music that blends Arabic, English and French with hip-hop, R&B and electronic influences.
His work often draws on themes of Palestinian identity, heritage and displacement.
The singer is scheduled to perform at Istanbul’s Volkswagen Arena on December 10 as part of his international “Afandi World Tour.”
