Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has held a telephone conversation with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, to discuss regional security, particularly attacks targeting Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, Turkish foreign ministry sources said.
Monday’s call comes as tensions across the Middle East remain high amid the war involving Iran and renewed fighting in Yemen, where the Houthi militia has targeted Saudi energy and aviation infrastructure, including airports.
The discussions underscore growing security coordination between Ankara and Riyadh as both countries navigate regional instability and seek to strengthen cooperation.

Türkiye and Saudi Arabia deepen defence coordination
The phone call follows a series of steps to strengthen Türkiye-Saudi relations across diplomacy, trade and defence.
Fidan has previously highlighted the momentum in bilateral ties, while the Turkish-Saudi Coordination Council provides a framework for cooperation in areas including security, energy, investment and trade.
Security cooperation has gained further prominence through the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement, signed by Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan in August 2026.
At a meeting in Riyadh on 5 October, officials from the three countries agreed to strengthen collective deterrence and defence coordination amid renewed Houthi militia attacks on Saudi Arabia.
The agreement adds a new institutional dimension to Ankara and Riyadh’s efforts to coordinate their responses to regional security challenges.

Yemen conflict adds to regional uncertainty
Saudi Arabia has led an Arab military coalition against the Houthi militias since 2015, following the group’s takeover of Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, and other areas in 2014.
Renewed Houthi attacks on Saudi targets have heightened concerns about the potential spread of regional conflict and threats to critical infrastructure.
Türkiye has voiced support for Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity as tensions have escalated.
Monday’s call highlights the importance both governments place on continued diplomatic contact as they seek to address security threats and prevent further regional escalation.
