Iraq strikes energy deal with Iran avoiding US sanctions
In the Middle East, Iraq and Iran have struck a deal that will see them them barter oil for gas. Oil-rich Iraq has become heavily reliant on imported Iranian gas to meet its electricity needs. But US sanctions on Tehran have hampered payments from Baghdad, prompting Iran to cut off gas supplies to Iraq.. and that's resulted in severe power shortages. As Emre Boz reports, it's hoped this new deal will help ease Iraq's electricity crisis, while complying with US sanctions.
