UN peacekeeping achievements and challenges
Since 1948, over 2 million troops have served in 72 UN peacekeeping missions. While successful in places like Liberia, it failed in crises like Rwanda. Today, 60,000 soldiers serve in 11 missions, mainly in Africa.
Despite challenges, peacekeeping still has strong support, though its role in conflicts like Gaza and Ukraine is uncertain. Rupert Stone has this report.
