The highly anticipated fourth episode in the story about Woody, Buzz, Bo Peep and the rest of Andy's toys - has broken the global box office record for an animated film.
The Pixar film tops the box office, but still comes in below expectations, following a string of disappointing sequels this summer.
"Godzilla: King of the Monsters" box office just brought $49 million, disappointing start, when it is debuted 4,108 locations.
The musical-adventure directed by Guy Ritchie, stars Will Smith, Mena Massoud and Naomi Scott and draws heavily on the music and story of the 1992 animated film (the top earner of that year) that it's based on.
"Aladdin," directed by Guy Ritchie, marks Smith's first time doing a Walt Disney Co film. The remake features many of the elements of the 1992 animated original, for which Robin Williams had won a Golden Globe for his voice work.
Smith added a personal touch - and some hip hop and rap - to portray the energetic CGI-enhanced blue Genie who emerges from a lamp in a cave of treasures.
