Indonesia has released from prison cleric Abu Bakar Bashir, as authorities said the suspected mastermind of the 2002 Bali bombings would enter a deradicalisation programme amid concerns over his continued influence in extremist circles.
Zulkarnaen has been on Indonesia's most-wanted list since the bombings that killed 202 people on the Indonesian resort island of Bali.
Aris Sumarsono is suspected of being involved in the making of bombs used in a series of attacks, including the 2002 Bali bombings, and a 2003 attack on the JW Marriott Hotel in Jakarta.
Last week, President Joko Widodo said Bashir, 81, would be granted early release on humanitarian grounds, citing his old age and poor health.
