Prisoners fought each other with handguns and knives, which were seized after the fight, said the state's Public Security Ministry.
At least 52 prisoners have been killed by other inmates during a riot at a prison in the northern Brazilian state of Para, authorities say.
According to an interior ministry official, the riot started when one inmate thought to be a member of Daesh attacked a prison guard.
It was the latest deadly riot in Mexico's chronically overcrowded prisons where inmates often have de facto control, and contraband weapons and drugs are rife.
The riot began in a prison complex in Amazonas state on Sunday following a fight between two drug gangs resulting in the death of at least 56 inmates.
