Turkey's President Erdogan and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron agreed on a meeting between the two countries' finance ministers "as soon as possible."
The lira lost approximately 40 percent of its value against the dollar this year, but has bounced back strongly since the beginning of the week, with gains of around nine percent.
The announcement came after Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani held lunchtime talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
