Pressure on children to succeed in Hong Kong's vaunted but highly competitive education system sometimes comes at the expense of sleep and play. A charity formed by a group of parents and concerned people is trying to change that.
A study from the UK showed that sleep reductions led to impaired responses to bacteria and viruses, more inflammation, higher levels of the stress hormone cortisol and other biomarkers related to pain, fatigue and poor health.
For a fee, people can take a baseball bat to glass bottles or the walls to find their way to a calmer state of mind. But health experts say better coping mechanisms are at hand.
