Italy's far-right optimistic ahead of polls

Thousands of migrants and refugees have ended up in Italy in recent years, triggering a rise in popularity of far-right parties as they propagate a tough stance on migration ahead of Sunday's general election.

The issue of immigration dominates election campaigns in Italy, which is poised to hold elections on Sunday.

Italy has been a gateway for hundreds of thousands of migrants seeking asylum and opportunities in Europe, but far-right parties promising to be tougher on migration have garnered more support than ever before.
