Why the US backs Israel

American politicians from top to bottom and across the political divide are united on one issue: support for Israel. As Israel wages its war on Hamas in Gaza, Democrats and Republicans have been lining up to give their backing, while also apparently trying to appear even more outraged than Israelis themselves. This week Nexus asks American journalist and political commentator Scottie Nell Hughes and geopolitical risk analyst Giorgio Cafiero whether unquestioning support for Israel is really in America’s interest.
